What not to do when visiting Greenland
Don’t extract or export any natural resources, stones or gemstones without checking with local authorities.
Don’t travel to Northeast Greenland National Park or central ice fields without official permission.
Don‘t expect roadways or railways between towns - the main transportation form is air travel, sea travel, snowmobiles or skiing.
Did you know?
The culture of Greenland has much in common with Inuit tradition, as the majority of people are descended from Inuit. People continue the Inuit tradition of ice-fishing, and there are annual dog-sledge races. Fishing by traditional methods has been increasingly replaced by the use of firearms and modern technology.
Tell us your experience
We love to hear from people who have travelled the world and know ‘what not to do’. Why not help other people on their travels?
Don’t forget the local laws are based on the Danish ones.
