What not to do when visiting Seychelles
Don’t forget to shake hands when greeting. Friends often kiss on the cheek.
Don't necessarily buy seashells nor export them without permit and certificate. Don't export local flora.
Don't necessarily compliment others - it's thought to bring bad luck.
Did you know?
Pirates used to stop in Seychelles. The treasure of Olivier le Vasseur was supposedly buried on the main island.
Don't feed nor try to touch animals.
Don't wear beachwear outside the beach areas. Dress formally in the evening.
Don’t necessarily fish, swim, snorkel or dive alone - it’s good to seek a local expert for advice.
Tell us your experience
We love to hear from people who have travelled the world and know ‘what not to do’. Why not help other people on their travels?
Don’t forget the rainy season usually runs from November to March.
